This summer, professor Daniel Weix and members of his research group joined the chemistry department, bringing with him a reputation for finding solutions that others might miss.
Nicholas J. Hill and Brian Esselman each received a 2016-2017 James W. Taylor Excellence in Teaching Award from the University of Wisconsin-Madison Department of Chemistry. The two organic chemistry laboratory directors organized and hosted a conference for UW-system, two-year colleges, which focused on innovative teaching and assessment in the undergraduate organic chemistry laboratory.
The National Science Foundation (NSF) has selected F. Fleming Crim to serve as assistant director for the Directorate of Mathematical and Physical Sciences (MPS). Crim will lead a staff of 160 and an annual budget of $1.3 billion. MPS supports core research in astronomy, chemistry, physics, material science and mathematics.
